IEGOR Auctions is pleased to offer for sale a selection of African objects from the collection of Mrs. Roxane Connick Carlisle.

Distinguished pianist (she was conducted by Leopold Stokowski at the New York City Symphony), Roxane Connick is known mainly for her ethnomusicological research in sub-Saharan Africa. During the '60s, '70s and '80s, she travelled throughout Africa, South America and Asia in search of music and interviews, which resulted in scientific publications and more than 1500 photographs and 200 sound recordings deposited at the Library of Congress in Washington.

IEGOR will be auctioning several objects related to music, ceremonies, weaving arts and crafts from African tribes in Zaire, Sudan and Kenya, among others. Some of these objects, dating from the late 1950s, still have the label written by the hand of Roxane Connick.
