SHOZAN RARE VASE ROULEAU EN FAÏENCE DE SATSUMA DE TYPE KINRAN ILLUSTRÉ DE LA LÉGENDE DU MOINEAU À LA LANGUE COUPÉE JAPON, EPOQUE TAISHO (1912-1926), SIGNE SATSUMA KEN, SHOZAN ZO AVEC KAKIHAN SOUS UN MON SHIMAZU Decore en emaux Kinran d'un vieillard qu'entourent des hommes a tetes d'oiseaux dans une bambouseraie. La legende du moineau a la langue coupee illustre de nombreux artefacts japonais, dont un koro en forme de baril par Gyokushu reproduit a la page 139 du meme ouvrage. L'artiste a augmente la palette Kinran classique - rouge or, bleu et vert - d'emaux gris, blanc, noir et marron, ce qui permet a M. Louis Lawrence de dater cette piece de la periode Taisho. L'auteur souligne egalement la beaute de ce vase, en cela que la joie des retrouvailles du vieillard et de ses amis et l'animation de la scene sont remarquablement rendus. FINE AND RARE ROULEAU VASE DECORATED IN KINRAN COLORS WITH A SCENE FROM THE LEGEND OF THE TONGUE-CUT SPARROW JAPAN, TAISHO PERIOD (1912-1926), SIGNED SATSUMA KEN, SHOZAN ZO WITH KAKIHAN BELOW SHIMAZU MON Adorned in Kinran colors with an old man surrounded by dancing sparrows in a bamboo grove. The tale of the tongue-cut sparrow is the background of many Japanese artefacts, among them one barrel shaped koro by Gyokushu illustrated in the same book at page 139. In addition to the "classical" Kinran palette - i.e. gold red, blue and green - the decorator has used grey, white, black and brown, hence the attribution of this piece to the Taisho period.
