South African female effigy, probably Venda, with firm legs, swollen abdomen perhaps gravid, flanked by bent arms with notched terminations describing, as on the feet, the digitations. The concave face, with a metal gaze, spikes nose and mouth. Beautiful lacquer of deep color.
