ANTIQUE ÉLÉPHANT EN JADE VERT ÉPINARD CHINE Represente serein et statique, debout sur ses quatre pattes, il revet un harnachement d`emaux cloisonnes et champleves et est couronne d`un vase fleuri au phenix en jade jadeite. L'elephant est un des motifs les plus importants de l'art bouddhique Chinois. Durant la Dynastie Qing, il fit son entree dans le vocabulaire decoratif de l`art imperial et fut affuble de nouvelles significations. Ainsi, les Empereurs Qing commanderent des paires d`elephants qu`ils placaient de part et d`autre de leurs trones. L`association de l`elephant au vase est un rebus signifiant`Quand l`elephant se presente, la paix regne sur l`Univers` (taping youxiang).
